"H-Huh?" Syaoran sat in disbelief at what he saw before him. The small box shook as the little one stirred and tried to free himself of his containment. The librarian reached thin fingers into the box, trying to pull the creature free. It hissed and thrashed in the box, obviously not wanting to be touched. Then how did it get into Syaoran's donation box in the first place? The little nekomata couldn't have put himself in there. It was a cryptic message, wrapped in an enigma, and doused in mystery.

Dark, crimson sunset peered out from behind ebony clouds; an evening wind buffeting dilapidated stone buildings across the empty streets. Dark, horned silhouettes dashed and scurried through back alleys; outwards to the old rail roads that circumscribed the ominous city. All was quite throughout the once busy streets. Lamentable; a place that had once been such a draw to demons across the Netherworld had been all but abandoned. Doors and windows to deserted shops were bordered up and left to perish silent deaths. His vision blurred and cleared, then blurred again. The effect made him feel dizzy and slightly nauseous. He staggered into a cold, hard, vertical surface and stood there, breathing heavily, for a moment. Vermillion squares impaled with yellow, surrounded by long, intertwined shapes of burgundy and navy. Rough. That was how the surface felt. The image in his head was suddenly splattered with bright red and indigo. Ouch. The wall had grazed his hand. At least, it resembled a wall. He slowly raised his hand to his mouth and licked the wound clean; an action that was strangely satisfying.
